As a DJ, Johnny has worked with many renowned club brands including The Ministry of Sound, Clockwork Orange and Phillip Salon’s infamous Mud Club. Johnny is a DJ/ Producer with a rich history in the UK Club Scene. More recently, Matt has been the Musical Director and drummer for both Leon Ware and Il Divo. Matt originally gained worldwide success with his renowned Drum & Bass act, ‘Outside’ and, since 2002, has been the keyboard player/ Music Director for internationally acclaimed ‘Incognito’, one of the most important bans of the British Acid Jazz Movement.
Matt, Jeff and Johnny have collaborated with musical heavyweights, including the likes of Mazen (currently touring with Leroy Hudson), Ben Jones, Gary Bardouille, Incognito band members Imaani Saleem & Karl Vanden Bossche, Ernie Mckone (Galliano), Nick van Gelder (Jamiroquai) and Marie Dahlstrøm (2013’ Scandinavian Soul Artist of the Year’). Cooper wrote a beautifully executed demo track and the other two decided to re-work it. The musical bonding between Matt, Johnny and Jeff began when Mr. This tale of deceit is cloaked in a deceptively simple melody, and you could be easily lulled into a false sense of musical security until you listen to the message in the lyrics - not everything is as it seems beside the sun-drenched poolside….įormed in 2016 and very much a ‘family affair’ spanning a generation, ‘The Descendants’ consists of musical partners in crime Matt Cooper, Jeff Cooper – Matt’s dad and music business veteran - and Johnny Primed. The original vocal and instrumental are beautifully complimented with a set of fabulous remixes with disco niceness from Dan Tenor City & Laroye and the North Street West production crew invoking the spirit of Charles Stepney. When Johnny Primed delivered his gargantuanly soulful house music project to F*CLR label boss, Jo Wallace, it became clear that the tracks belonged on two releases to allow the music to shine.
